Vote Yes for Kids
In November 2020, voters in Escambia County, FL, approved the Vote Yes for Kids ballot measure, establishing a Children’s Services Council, an independent governing body with the power to levy taxes and direct the revenue exclusively to services for children, youth, and families. The measure passed with 61% support and authorized a property tax increase of $0.5 per $1,000 of assessed value. The new council will serve 10,000 children annually with infant home visiting, kindergarten readiness services, and more.
