Our Kids First

In November 2020, voters in Leon County, FL, approved the Our Kids First ballot measure, establishing a Children’s Services Council, an independent governing body with the power to levy taxes and direct the revenue exclusively to services for children, youth, and families. The measure passed with 65.8% support and authorized a property tax increase of $0.5 per $1,000 of assessed value. The new council will aim to increase the percentage of child care programs that are Gold Seal quality to 30%, impacting over 3,000 children annually.
