In 2026, the Yes for Families campaign established an early childhood-focused voter-approved children’s fund by dedicating a 0.5 mill property tax increase to expand access to affordable child care, especially for children 0-3, and raise child care provider wages. The millage will generate about $6.3 million annually and Kalamazoo County is beginning the process of administering and standing up the fund.
